Finally! Fifty years after the release of the film My Fair Lady, ABC has decided to turn the film into a television series. Well, not exactly. But, basically, yes. The book known as Pygmalion, which became the film called My Fair Lady is now the sitcom TV series Selfie.
Selfie (sometimes advertised as #Selfie) stars Karen Gillan as Elize Dooley. The character is not to be confused with Elize Doolittle. The show also stars John Cho as Henry. Henry does not have a last name at this point, but I can only imagine that it is Higginsworth or Higgley, or maybe even Huggins.
The show is not as bad as I had hoped, but not as amaaazing as I had read. I have not yet decided if it will save the generation of young people born since 1990. But, it may give their parents and professors hope.
Check it out onDemand. JSYK, Selfie premieres on ABC on September 30th.

"Hall & Simon" (Series Premiere Review)
A few weeks ago I watched the sneak preview of "Garfunkel & Oats", a new series on IFC. It was hilarious (hilar to some of you)! Also, it was the only thing onDemand that I had not watched all summer, other than Please Like Me on Pivot. It was a sunny day in the middle of my rainy summer. The show gives me hope for my dark Fall nights of the near future. The almost best part was the tribute to Saved By The Bell's "Hot Sundae" music video.
Now, since we are talking SBTB, I of course have some praises and several critiques:
1. I LOVE that they geared their series premier directly to me by references SBTB! The scene-by-scene recreation shows that at least someone else out there had (has) the same sick obsession that I had (have) for Kelly, Jessie and Lisa.
2. The song in the series premiere of Garfunkel & Oats is NO WHERE as well written as the lyrics; "...put your mind to it, go for it, Get down and break a sweat, Rock and roll, You ain't seen nothin' yet". But, I am still honored at the sentiment.
3. WHAT THE HELL??!!! Lisa Turtle is replaced with three unknown, non-cast member, black women! You might have even been able to get Lark in there to reprise her roll. I don't want to come off as some obsessed SBTB fan-boy. I know they probably could not have gotten Lark Voorhies to show her face. But, it is very upsetting that the show used three random black women to replace Lisa Turtle in the video re-make. This implies that "Lisa" was less than a supporting character on the show.
I really did enjoy the show. However, this episode is just asking to be mentioned in a thesis paper by a student majoring in African-American Studies.

Summertime Sadness AKA "First World Problems"
New Obsession = Lana Del Rey. I know, I'm a little behind. Summertime Sadness is my hit of the summer, and I do realize that it came out last summer. But here is my "first world problem".... I have created a "Lana Del Rey" station on Pandora, as well as a "Summertime Sadness" Station. Friday, on my train ride home from work I had my own summertime sadness. Pandora REFUSED to let me hear a single song by Miss Lana. I hit "thumbs down", "skip" and created new stations, and still, no Lana Del Rey!!! It was the worst 40 minute commute home from work........ EVER.

ADM!
Aye Dios Mio!!! (OMG!)
New obsession.... Devious Maids! I can't wait to see what happens next between the girl from Heroes who is working for the "has been" from Melrose Place and the vampire bitch from True Blood! And, ADM Mrs. Turk is working for Erica Kane and their hottie kids and the hots for each other! Caliente!! I'm also hooked on the plot with Roselyn "Chasing Papi" Sanchez and her co-workers; will the Real Mrs. Donald Draper please stand up, and the guy that was a bike messenger with Heroes chick when she had a NY accent versus her current adorably fake "This is getting complicated" accent. Oh, and let's not forget where all of the deviousness is rooted at.... Ugly Betty's big sister and her behind the scenes spying on Angela's Chase's oh so creepy dad!
Time for the next episode,,, thank you OnDemand!

Happy Birthday "Janis Ian"....
a.k.a. Lizzy Caplan!!!!
June 30, 2013
Today is Lizzy Caplan's birthday! Now, I know she is more than just Janis Ian from Mean Girls, but c'mon, she rocked in the 2004 hit. Since stealing the camera with her side-kick Damian, Lizzy has starred in Cloverfield, Party Down and Bachelorette. We won't talk about the 2012 chart flopper Bachelorette though. She has also guested on both True Blood and New Girl.
In honor of Miss Caplan and Janis, below are some of my favorite Mean Girls quotes:
Janis: “We gotta crack Gretchen Wieners. We crack Gretchen, and then we crack the lock on Regina’s whole dirty history.”
Damian: “Say crack again.”
Janis: “Crack.”
“I guess it’s probably because I’ve got a big lesbian crush on you! Suck on that.”
“Oh my God, Danny DeVito! I love your work!”
Damian: And I want my pink shirt back! I want my pink shirt back!

Cady: I don't know, I mean, she's so weird, she just, you know, came up to me and started talking to me about crack.

Summer TV Premieres
What's better than the Fall Preview edition of TV Guide?...
How about the Summer TV Premieres!!!!.... And thank you IMDb for putting the list out there.
Summer premieres might be the best thing since mid-season replacements. When I was a kid Mom would try to make you go outside in the summer. She would even have the cable turned off since there was nothing new on anyway.
But now................ no way! We've got a list here of 71 wonderful shows that will be filling up our dvr all summer!!! http://www.imdb.com/summermovieguide/summer-tv-premieres?ref_=hm_eds_t1
My TOP choice so far... "Twisted" (with a backwards s).. Love It!
Already instantly hooked... 2 episodes in, and there's no turning back. Good-bye Degrassi, and hello Twisted! Vampire Diaries is off for the Summer.... Twisted! Wondering what's up with Denise Richards' career (and her neck)... Check out Twisted!
Twisted airs on Tuesdays at 9:00pm on ABC Family.
ABC Family,, the perfect channel for a show about an 11 year old boy strangling his Indian American aunt to death with his jump rope.
TWISTED: Starring Denise Richards, her son Danny Desai, (and Denise Richards' Neck)
